It's
Summer - and is the Living Easy?
Only the hardest hearted English tennis fan could not have forgiven
Andy Murray for being Scottish after last night's superlative victory.
The Wimbledon crowd cheered the Braveheart on, emblazoned with Union
Jacks, and there was no way the crumbling French opposition was going
to be given the light in the face of a roaring Centre Court backed up
by a capacity filled Henman Hill. New balls, anyone?
Yes, finally summer is upon us, and we pray for a good one for us and
all our readers. A reminder though, from Raytek, that system
designers should remember that at the height of summer ambient lighting
levels at night are not conducive to good CCTV pictures.
Although lighting conditions may seem less challenging at this
time of year CCTV systems still need purpose-designed lighting if they
are to work properly, says Shaun Cutler, MD of Raytec.
Meanwhile, a Manchester man who ran a security company is the first
director to have his licence revoked by the Security Industry Authority
(SIA) based on non-conviction information. The director in question
simply refused to co-operate with the SIA, which is the kind of rearguard
protest action that might work if he wasn't the only one doing it...
Finally, with fuel theft rising rapidly, our Product of the Week
is a Fuel Tank Theft Detector/Alarm from Castle - which may be
of interest to the 2m households in the UK that need to store their
oil and gas off the national pipleine.
PRODUCT
OF THE WEEK
As
seen on the BBC - Castle's Fuel Tank Protector
Around
2 million homes in the UK are not plumbed into the national gas
supplies and therefore are reliant on storing their fuel in outdoor
tanks. Castle's solution of a wireless transmitter that sits inside
the fuel cap and alarms the customer's control panel is becoming
recognised as a simple solution to the rising problem of fuel
theft.
